HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 1999--Intergraph Utilities (Nasdaq/NMS:INGR) today announced that Maui Electric Company (MECO) has selected Intergraph's geospatial resource management solution - an integrated, end-to-end turnkey solution - to increase operational efficiency and improve customer service. MECO, a subsidiary of Hawaiian Electric Company, provides electricity to the islands of Lanai, Molokai, and Maui.
The contract includes software and implementation services and is based on Intergraph's fast-start electric template, which contains an industry-standard data model, symbol library, placement functions, trace routines and reports. Basing the system on template technology shortens the design and development cycle. The system includes Intergraph's industry-leading ActiveFRAMME(TM) AM/FM/GIS software; Field View for seamless map viewing, querying, and notetaking; and GeoMedia(R) Web Map, which distributes GIS information to end-users over the Internet.
According to Ed Rinehart, Maui Electric director of engineering, "We selected the Intergraph technology as the foundation for our geospatial resource management system because of the depth of the electric application, implementation expertise, and ease of integration to OMS and CAD applications."
Kevin Hitt, Intergraph Utilities' vice president of electric solutions, said, "Intergraph is committed to providing real choices in geospatial resource management, extending the benefits of geospatial technology to companies like Maui Electric. With our robust electric template and fast track implementation, geospatial technology becomes affordable."
