VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Two Canadian credit unions are pilot testing a new service that allows their members to conduct business via text messaging or Short Messaging Service.
Members of Coast Capital Savings CU and Mount Lehman CU initially will be able to request information via SMS on account balances and view recent transaction history. More functions will be added in the future. Unlike other types of mobile banking programs, members will not need Internet access to use the service.
The pilot programs are being conducted in partnership with Credit Union Central of B.C.
